One day they ganged up and chased our Merlin (Merlie) off his tree. This year the crows are here 24/7. They start calling at dawn, and keep it up until night. We haven't seen much of Merlie lately, but he does go off for a week sometimes. The calls of the Crows certainly drown out the calls of our Spotted Towhee, California Towhee, California Thrasher, Oak Titmouse, Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Bewick's Wren, and Lesser Goldfinch population. What is a birder to do? Cotton in the ears, I guess. Fortunately for us, their main tree is about 3 houses down the hill. ----------------------------------------- Kendric C.
