I couldn't quite make out if the Ross's had any signs of immaturity (possibly faint shading); but it was definitely lame, i.e., from the way it walked it clearly had an injured leg. Had anyone observed this on the Sunnyvale bird? Earlier, a visit to Ed Levin Park wasn't as successful as I would have liked. I spent an hour not finding any owls, although there were some fairly fresh-looking signs, at the Elms area. I also didn't relocate a Rufous Hummingbird which Frank's SCVAS field trip had found. I did see two Red-Breasted Sapsuckers: one each at the Elms and Spring Valley areas. A nest box near the Spring Valley area seemed to be a subject of contention between a pair of Bluebirds and a group of Tree Swallows - I wonder how that will work out!
