Beautiful weather. We spotted two Northern Rough-winged Swallows at the Mineral Springs bridge area just east (up stream) from the Youth Science Institute, and the American Dipper was seen at two locations. Once at the bridge near the Ramada picnic area and the other time at the bridge at the Log Cabin picnic area. We spotted a pair of Bewick's Wrens gather nesting material and fly up into a crevasse in Alum Rock (lower left, as viewed from the bridge), near the old park entrance. I tried to make Rock Wrens out of them, but they stayed Bewick's Wrens. One of my sharp eyed students also found an active Oak Titmouse cavity at the Log Cabin Picnic areas. It was a good day.
