To reach the area, from Hwy 237 in Milpitas take McCarthy Ave south to Sycamore Dr. Turn west and the road ends almost immediately in company parking lots. Park on the north side of the small building (probably a pump house). Walk up onto and over the outer levee. Take the path into the trees which climbs onto the inner levee. Continue to where the river meets the levee and turns west. The flicker was in a tall cottonwood over the trail. Oddly, the only other yellow-shafted type flicker I've seen in CA was in the exact same spot 6 years ago. Good luck, Dave Weber Milpitas _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
