I learned this the hard way last week on the trail at Bald Mountain. I've been watching a gnatcatcher nest there for several weeks now. Last thursday while watching the nest I noticed the female got quite agitated, so I left. When I returned sunday evening the nest was torn apart. I'd read about this behavior but the sight made an lasting impression on me. I regret my my disregard for its natural instinct.
