The Black Skimmer pair with chick are still very evident on the first nesting rectangle. In fact, they saw fit to escort me past the premises as I walked by on the levee. Braving the testy Forster's Terns, I continued walking toward the second rectangle when I saw a "cloud" rise and descend around the third. Heading toward the third to get a better look, I unexpectedly flushed two Burrowing Owls (saw 4 more up at Arzino Ranch) from the levee. The cloud turned out to be 100's of Wilson's Phalaropes. At least I believe they were all Wilson's. I didn't stay to get a head count or an exhaustive id of all the large flock (ref. testy terns :-) ). Best Regards, Kirsten R.
