Although there was heavy fog down here, the entire hike up there was above the fog in nice sunny conditions with a light breeze. Highlights of the hike included a heard-only PILEATED WOODPECKER below milepost 2.7 on the Canyon Trail (about where mile 2.8 would be) and another, first heard and then seen flying, crossing over Page Mill Road from San Mateo County into Santa Clara County back near the car at the start of the Canyon Trail at 4:20pm. Otherwise bird activity was fairly limited, with small numbers of the expected species such as VARIED THRUSH, HUTTON'S VIREO, HAIRY WOODPECKER, etc. being found.
