I figured it would be easier to find with fewer cars around but the birds seem to congregate about whatever cars they can find! I wonder how many breeding plumage males escape detection? I was panicking when I got there because I couldn't remember which sex the bird was supposed to be. Fortunately the female is easy to spot. Finally many thanks to everyone on this list for their sightings and their help in unravelling the confusions of some of your native species. I am off back home with a good 176 start on the year list. Actually I'm going via Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Bangkok and a few Pacific islands, so the end result for the year shouldn't be too shabby.
