A non-birding friend indulged me yesterday with
frequent binocular stops as we hiked/walked the Dish
trail from Alpine Road. We saw 24 Western Bluebirds,
in groups of 2 to 5.  Also one Say's Phoebe, a
White-breasted Nuthatch and two White-tailed Kites.

I wonder if these bluebirds are wintering here from
other venues or are they "our" bluebirds, moving to
the foothills for the winter?
