In between I saw the "amazing" alternate-plumaged Bonaparte's gull among 2-300 of it's basic-plumaged brethren across from the Duck Pond at the Baylands, where I also found a Whimbrel. A Merlin was over the Forebay (it landed 3 feet above a Black-crowned Night Heron which did not budge) and a Clapper Rail was in the usual spot along the boardwalk at the Baylands.
