Ran into Mike Rogers a couple of times chasing down or looking for some of the recent rarities. No luck with either the Brandt's Cormorant (Los Gatos Creek Ponds) or the Red Phalaropes (Lake Cunningham), but we did see 3+ BARN SWALLOWS over Los Gatos Creek ponds. Also 15 COMMON MERGANSERS flew over, 1 OSPREY was perched in the trees on one of the islands, 2 BELTED KINGFISHERS were flying around calling, 3 HOODED MERGANSERS were in the ponds across the bridge. Down at Coyote Creek Golf Course, the PACIFIC LOON was in the middle pond near the clubhouse, and the GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was in the parking lot. The GREATER ROADRUNNER was out foraging in the field across from 11011 Crothers road (off the Mount Hamilton road) around 3:00pm. It put on a fine performance, sunning itself, running about, raising its crest and lifting its tail, preening, etc. Quite a showoff.
