Let's hope that they both flew west... I did my ritual New Year's Day birding of the park this morning. Highlights included 1 WILSON'S SNIPE on the southernmost snipe island in the creek, 1 LINCOLN'S SPARROW, 6 HOODED MERGANSERs - 2 males and 4 females, the OSPREY was perched on his island, all 5 common herons and egrets, 1 SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, and 2 female BELTED KINGFISHERs fighting over the large pond and forcing each other down into the water - kingfishers can swim quite well.
