Hello Birders:

I have been thinking of where to go see a Townsend's
Warbler in Santa Clara County that might be close to
Menlo Park. Since I saw a Townsend's on the Menlo Park
side of San Francisquito Creek for the Palo Alto CBC,
my husband suggested I try from the Palo Alto side.
Duh!

Spent an hour late this afternoon looking for one.  No
luck. But I did find a wonderful male VARIED THRUSH
and a RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER by the creek, along with
a BELTED KINGFISHER.  Many BUSHTITS, YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLERS (including one of the Myrtle persuasion), a
HERMIT THRUSH, Oak Titmouse, Anna's Hummingbirds,
Black Phoebe, Nuttall's Woodpeckers, and
Chestnut-backed Chickadees. A SHARP-SHINNED HAWK flew
over as I was getting ready to go.

It's amazing what lives right under our noses every
day!
