We got there about 5:30 PM and started our vigil, by about 6:25 PM we decided that it was too dark (to windy and too cold) and so started to leave. We had walked only a short distance when a SHORT-EARED OWL flew by us on the Adobe Creek side of the dike not 10 feet away. We watched as the Owl landed 3 - 4 times on the edge of the dike then suddenly making a hard right turn and disappearing near the bench across from the tide gates for Charleston Slough.
