For those of you who don't have a clue what I meant, PAFCB is the Palo Alto Flood Control Basin, that wonderful, duckful marsh (and storm water overflow) between the Palo Alto landfill/Byxbee Park and Charleston Slough. This acronym is only slightly less worse than DESFBNWR (Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge) or whatever the Sunnyvale WPCP (Water Pollution Control Plant) is now named. But the acronyms are sure easier to type than the full names. As a further public disservice, in case you're too tired or digitally- challenged (that's fingers, not cameras), here are a few more for future reference: ARP - Alum Rock Park EEC - Environmental Education Center at the Alviso unit of the afore- mentioned DESFBNWR. For clarity, one could use EEC-DESFBNWR. ELCP - Ed Levin County Park. For specificity, you can append SV for the Spring Valley area, SWL for Sandy Wool Lake, EGP for Elm Group Picnic area GCP - Grant County Park, append SCF for Smith Creek Firestation LEBNIC - Lucy Evans Baylands Nature Interpretive Center at PAB MVF - Mountain View Forebay, aka CCF - Coast Casey Forebay PAB - Palo Alto Baylands SCCP - Stevens Creek County Park, think of all of the different areas at this park! SCLA - Stevens Creek at L'Avenida or should that be SCL'A? SCTM - Stevens Creek Tidal Marsh SCVAS - Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society SFBBO - San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory There, isn't that better?
