I'm curious as to exactly where this pond is up there. To me, Windy Hill is
a parking place where you can head north up to Windy Hill Summit (about 1/2
mile) or over to Hamm's Gulch trail or Lost Trail; you can go down to
Portola Valley on Hamm's Gulch trail and then back up on the Windy Hill
Summit trail. I don't know of any lake or pond in the area.

I do sometimes park at the Russian Ridge parking lot and go through the
tunnel under Alpine Road where there is a pond and nature center. From
there you can take a ridge trail over to Horseshoe Lake. To me, this is
Russian Ridge, not Windy Hill.

Can you please tell me where the little pond is you're referring to? I
would like to see the HOME's up there.
