Yesterday I visited the quarry ponds in the Niles District of Fremont 
in Alameda County.

On 2 occasions I saw a bird in the leafless willows which I can't identify.

 From a distance I looked like a bluebird in size and conformation. 
However, when viewed at close range is was pale greyish on the back 
and the pale upper breast had a faint striping.

Any ideas?
