The experts were unanimous that the vireo I photographed at Arastradero
yesterday was a regular old Hutton's. Eyering is broken on the top, and not
enough contrast between head and breast. Thanks, folks; learn something
every day.

The bird did give a strong impression of having a complete eyeglass when I
first saw it, and the "nosebridge" was confirmed in the photos, though
these also showed the decisive features noted above. I hadn't noticed
before how Hutton's can have prominent white lores that create the eyeglass
effect.
