[The bird was seen by someone during the Palo Alto CBC.] I did, however, find a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW in a tree on the southern edge of the marsh [and path] near Shoreline Blvd [just west of the large parabolic antennas, nearest the smaller antenna]. The bird had a white throat patch, a black lateral throat stripe, white malar stripe and whitish supercilium with yellow lores. It had fine streaking on a grayish breast and generally looked fairly dull. The bird was also wet having apparently just bathed. Several [4-5] WILSON'S SNIPE were also seen in and flying over the marsh. The rest of the morning was spent at the Palo Alto Baylands, first at "Rail Corner" not seeing a Black Rail and then along the channel that parallels the Palo Alto Airport not seeing a Swamp Sparrow. We had the highest tide that I have seen in recent years but the only rail to fly in was a SORA [and only one of them]. Best sighting of the day for me was a pair [male and female] of adult PEREGRINE FALCONS perched near each other on a power tower. It was neat to see the great size difference [her much larger] and color variation [her underparts very nearly white, his a creamy-tan].
