I've got a couple of good areas in Region 7 that still need counters for the Monday Dec 15 Palo Alto Christmas Bird Count-- Wunderlich Park, La Honda Creek Preserve and then just areas along roads, Old La Honda Rd., Rapley Ranch Rd., Skyline Blvd., La Honda Rd., etc. These areas can be sparse on birds but in past years have yielded some really great species, especially Wunderlich. Possibilities for the forested areas up here are Pileated Woodpecker, Hermit Warbler, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Red Crossbill, Winter Wren, Varied Thrush and Purple Finch. Good auditory birding skills are very helpful for at least one person in the counting party to have in order to have a good chance of finding these species. Interested? Or want to be a helper? Please contact me-- we don't want these areas to go uncounted. Thanks, Leda Beth Gray Region 7 Coordinator Palo Alto _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
