Best birds were two adult male BLUE-WINGED TEAL [in the Lockheed-Martin ponds], two adult male EURASIAN WIGEON and an adult male REDHEAD [in the large western pond]. The smaller eastern pond had several [10-12] LESSER SCAUP [alas no Tufted Duck], Salt Ponds A-4 and A-3W both had RED-BREASTED MERGANSER [A-4 a couple and A-3W A good sized flock of 20-24], while the outflow channel between the ponds had 16-20 adult basic plumaged BONAPARTE'S GULLS. Sandpipers were hard to come by with several small groups of Dowitchers, a couple solo LEAST SANDPIPERS and a single DUNLIN. We did have good views of three widely separated LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE [a good sign?] and as we were leaving a PEREGRINE FALCON was heading north past the radar tower.
