It was preening actively in with a group of DOWITCHERS. I happened to find Rob and Frank Vanslager as I made a quick pre-work stop. For those like me who are still fairly new to birding, the following might help you identifying this bird: The rufous cheek patch is not very evident compared to what Sibley shows. The black tertials have what appeared to be double white spots. The white supercilium is very evident. As reported before by others, we found this bird in the first large pond on your right as you walk away from the entrance road to the Alviso EEC along the railroad tracks heading in the general direction of the bay. I left Rob and Frank heading further out, so we might see a report from them later today.
