A single SNOWY PLOVER was in one of the ponds south [left side] of the RR tracks a hundred yards or so from where they join the mainline leading into Alviso. On our way back three large flocks of shorebirds flew over the RR tracks from the marsh into the pond near the intersection of State St. and Spreckles Ave. Inspection of these flocks revealed that the Stilt Sandpiper was now in this pond (State & Spreckles). A couple other birders joined us as we moved to Spreckles Ave. [for better viewing/better air] where we had good views of the bird as it tried to sleep and/or preen as Dowitchers moved around it. We then decided that on our way home we would make another quick stop near the first pond northeast of the RR tracks where Frank fairly quickly located the RUFF (REEVE) which was now actively feeding in the channel behind and to the left of the "first" pond. We were then able to point this bird out to another birder before we were forced to finally head home.
