Of 24 species seen, were four Blue gray Gnatcatchers, including one juvenile, a family of four W.Bluebirds and surprisingly 9 Ruby- crowned Kinglets. Nearly every time I stopped to pish for a bird, a quiet Kinglet would appear quite interested. A calling Red shouldered Hawk was heard nearly the whole time. A very good Red tailed Hawk imitation was observed from a Stellers Jay, and a Coopers Hawk seen at the end of the trail.The Tarweed is scenting the trails with its pungent scent.
