On Saturday at Byrne Preserve in Los Altos Hills, I saw a flock of 6 brown-headed cowbirds (3 male, 3 female) all sitting on the top of a horse that was grazing in the meadow down by the drainage near where the red-winged blackbirds were happily foraging in the mustard. The cowbirds were dropping off the horse's back into the short grass and foraging, and then flying up to perch on the horse again.
