The highlight was a HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER seen from the highway bridge on the downstream side shortly after 8 am. Also in the vicinity of the bridge were BULLOCK'S ORIOLEs, BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKs, a pair of WARBLING VIREOs, a pair of BROWN CREEPERs, and HOUSE WRENs. Up the hill behind the fire station (green gate, right/north fork at the junction) was a female-type, probably columbarius MERLIN, a soaring GOLDEN EAGLE, a flock of 20-odd PINE SISKINs, and not much else. We nearly whiffed on warblers, seeing one and hearing several ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERs, but nothing else except a few tantalizing snatches of song. (We didn't walk far on the creek trail, stopping where it is blocked about half way to the stream crossing by a sizable downed tree.)
