The bridge at the third time the stream crosses under the road is a wood and metal affair. I was unable to locate any nest (I wasn't entirely sure what I was looking for, so I may have missed it). I looked under the bridge from both upstream and downstream sides. While I did not see any dippers, my wife saw one for a short time on the downstream side. Thinking I might have miscounted the bridges, we proceeded up stream to what I think is the fourth under-road stream crossing. This bridge seems to be all concrete, and seemed much less likely to be suitable for a nest. It also looked quite difficult to get down to stream level to look under the bridge, so I didn't try. -Eric Tiwari, Vivek wrote: > Folks, > > Wrt my 4/6/03 posting: > > I am certain that the bridge where I saw the nest was the 3rd bridge on Stevens Canyon Rd. past Mr. Eden Road > as had been reported in an earlier posting. > That is, after the Mt. He said he went straight to the 3rd bridge on Stevens Canyon Rd. past Mr. Eden Road. Actually we found it was the 4th bridge or the 4th time the stream crosses under the road. Under the bridge, visible only from the downstream side was a large globular nest of moss, etc. on the girders. We actually saw the Dipper from the upstream side and it was quite thrilling, the end of a two year search for George.
