Lots of flying with a group of 4 coming/going from the A1 Pond (south). Also here was the slow-but-sure family walk of Canada gander, 6 goslings (new) and Goose across the whole low tide mud flat of the Slough Pond (north to south with distinctive tracks). Still around were a pair of Gadwall, a few Cinnamon Teal, a single male (Am.) Green-winged Teal and a few Northern Shovelers and Scaup sp. At Shoreline Lake in Mt.View an imm. Merlin was perched then flew off (to prey?) from the snag top of a Monterey Cypress at the Parking Lot near the Cafe. Although the southerly winds had most lake birds away along the north shore, we only saw a few Canada Geese and mallards (residents?) and lots of Am. Coots and Gulls (mostly Calif. Gull). On the south Stevens Creek-Crittenden Marsh Trail, noteworthy was a Common Raven carrying nest material to an empty power pole (no nest as yet). We could hear the song of Common (Salt Marsh?) Yellowthroat from the Creek edge, but no waterbirds in the channel. Happy Birding Phil Gordon, Hayward, ALA Co. _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
