I've never had them stay for more than one half hour before. I found a brown and white Nuttalls Woodpecker in Guadalupe Oak Grove park this afternoon. Presumably the same bird, or offspring of the Nuttalls Woodpecker that Yvonne Micko discovered in the park several years ago. It was a male excavating a nest cavity right across from the first park information sign on the trail south of the parking lot. His forehead was black, top of head not a true red, and back was all brown with off white markings, tail was completely brown. His face had the usual black and white markings and his wings appeared to be mostly black, but I did not see him fly.
