Hello,

Seems odd not to be reporting Wild Turkey lately, but a couple things of
note from San Benito and southern Santa Clara County. 
Monday, John Smith Road east of Hollister: at least four Golden Eagles are
present in the area.  One Cassin's Kingbird just east of the dump.  Many
Western Kingbirds along the road, along with the usual numbers of Loggerhead
Shrike -- one carrying a small lizard.  Four Tricolored Blackbirds feeding
in the pastures.  Nearby on Sunday (a short distance up Santa Anita Road,
just south of a gate marked "1776" we surprised a Great Horned Owl from its
roost.  It flew to a nearby oak to try to resume its nap and was immediately
set upon by screaming Scrub Jays.

This morning, Llagas Creek, a bobcat was stalking California Quail.  That
spot remains quiet as far as new spring arrivals go.
