There is such variation, both year-to-year and between birds, that any definition of what is typical is somewhat tenuous. But getting those weasel words out of the way, the county checklist shows this oriole's status changes from uncommon to rare about 8/15, and then from rare to very rare about 9/30. What this means is that most of our resident birds are leaving about mid-August, but a few hang on into September (sometimes late breeders). Any bird in October is very rare and is likely trying to winter locally, rather than being a late-departing bird.
