The splendid Townsend's Warber has returned to
Guadalupe Oak Grove.  Janna Pauser and I observed it
flitting in and out of the oaks at the parking lot
this morning around 10 a.m.  This is approximately the
same area around which it was seen for several months
last fall and winter.

A pair of Nutalls's Woodpeckers, male and female, were
"playing?" and posturing in an oak a short distance up
the trail from the parking lot on the Thorntree side
of the park.  I had never seen this particular
behavior before.  One of them would crouch on the top
side of a side limb, while the other would crouch
upside down on the bottom side of the limb.  Then with
sudden movements, they would switch sides.  Sometimes
they would both crouch on the upward side of the limb
before moving to another location.
