Jeff Wall kindly added clarification about where he saw it this morning. White-faced Ibis is a #5 in terms of rarity on Kendric Smith's South Bay Birders Unlimited Site, and has not been reported this year, according to the 2002 list: http://www.stanford.edu/~kendric/birds/ --Kris Olson -----Original Message----- From: Jeff Wall [mailto:[[email protected]]] Sent: Friday, October 11, 2002 7:20 PM To: [[email protected]] Subject: [pen-bird] (unknown) Looks like some clarification is in order regarding the location of the White-faced Ibis. At http://www.ci.mtnview.ca.us/citydepts/cs/sd/shoreline_map.htm there is an excellent map that practically shows the bird. Park at the end of San Antonio Rd. Walk out the dirt road on the levy that parallels Charleston Slough. This is shown as a dotted line going generally north on the map. The bird was on the right side of the road at the spot marked by a black dot on the left side of the road. Hope he is still around. Jeff Wall This morning at Charleston Slough in the Palo Alto Baylands preserve there was a White-faced Ibis on the mud flats with a mix of other shore birds. It was on the right side of the levy road about a mile from the parking lot gate, near the point where a road branches off to the right and there is a sign explaining the Charleston Slough rehab project.
