I heard two PILEATED WOODPECKERS calling from the SCL side of Summit Road. One was at Redwood Estates and the other was about 0.7 mi. northwest of the junction with Black Road. An adult male HERMIT WARBLER was with a mixed flock on the SCL side of the road near the junction with Las Cumbres Road. I saw MERLINS in flight near Mt. Bielawski and near Gist Road (both seen in both SCZ and SCL). A male SLATE-COLORED JUNCO was with a junco flock about 1.3 road miles north of the northern junction with Bear Creek Road (SCL and SCZ). 6 HOODED MERGANSERS and 14 RING-NECKED DUCKS were on a private farm pond near there in SCL. Also noted were a scattering of GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS at several locations between Gist Road and Mt. Bielawski, about 25-30 kinglets in total.
