After walking perhaps a third of a mile down from the junction of Morrill Road, our target bird, a NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL, responded to taped calls. This bird eventually flew into the tree over our heads and then across the road, where I was able to illuminate it with my Q-beam for all to enjoy. On the way back we checked the base of Black Road and Alma Bridge Road along the east side of Lexington Reservoir for others owls, finding only a single GREAT HORNED OWL.
