This was a fairly distant view and shortly after sighting the male BAGO it swam out of sight, we then walked around the northern edge of the lake for a better look but were unable to refind the bird. We had an adult COOPER'S HAWK perched and calling north of the lake. A nice flock of BONAPARTE'S GULLS were in Salt Pond A1 (just north of Shoreline Lake). Several adult GLOUCOUS-WINGED GULLS were on the eastern edge of the lake, a couple HORNED GREBES were on the lake (newly arrived), and a GREEN HERON was on the small wooden walkway on the north western side of the Lake. We then walked around the marsh located north of Charleston Rd and east of Shoreline Rd., this was a very pleasant walk with a nice variety and quantity of birds, no rare ones but a fair number of "good" birds. We had several FOX SPARROW, LINCOLN SPARROW, HERMIT THRUSH, four WILSON'S SNIPE, a juvenile SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, juvenile and adult RED-TAILED HAWK, a female BELTED KINGFISHER, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, a couple nice flocks of CEDAR WAXWINGS, two TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS, and a very cooperative RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER. We also had both CROWNED SPARROWS, AMERICAN & LESSER GOLDFINCHES, CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEE, BUSHTIT, AMERICAN ROBIN, NORTHERN FLICKER, HOUSE FINCH, DARK-EYED JUNCO, BLACK PHOEBE, ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD, and lots of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS. Oddly we had no Song Sparrows or Blackbirds. _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
