After attending the David Sibley book signing this am at McClellan
Ranch (best birds there being an intergrade NORTHERN FLICKER and a
TOWNSEND'S WARBLER), Mike Mammoser and I headed to San Tomas Aquino
Creek near Scott Blvd to look for the Clay-colored Sparrow.  Roland
and Pat had been there since 8am without finding the bird, but
perseverance paid off and at 10:22am I relocated the CLAY-COLORED
SPARROW just north (downstream) of Scott Blvd, where the paved road
drops down to the creek bed (from here on its just a gravel path).
All four of us watched the bird for half an hour and it was still
foraging in the creek in this area when I left.
