Great Horneds also respond to squeaking (also to calls of small owls). It has been recommended that when you squeak, whistle or whatever, you keep your arm up, as people have been struck by owls. I've never had a Barn Owl come that close, but I've been dive-bombed by a Great Horned who thougth my Pygmy Owl imitiation was damn fine and was looking for a meal.
