They were in the pond area along the main trail across the park. Later I saw them in a flooded area between the wooden walkway and the observation platform. I believe these were Common Goldeneye females. One had a mostly black bill with a well delineated orange tip. The other bird had an all black bill. These are the first Goldeneyes I've seen here during this fall/winter season. One other bird of interest that I have seen occasionally is a Northern Flicker with both a red nape and a red malar stripe. Does this combination reveal what hybrid mix is represented?
