Belated report: before dawn on Wednesday the 18th, Pat Kenny and I walked
down the Canyon Trail at Montebello OSP hoping to hear a Northern Pygmy-Owl,
which we failed to do.  We did hear distant GREAT-HORNED OWL(s) and
downstream from the Indian Creek Trail junction, we heard several PILEATED
WOODPECKER calls; this was shortly after sunrise.
