On Monday, and for a few weeks, an adult and an immature Red-shouldered Hawk have been hunting in my yard. They occasionally perch on my rain gauge, threatening to mess with my rain data. On Monday, watching the imm. hawk while incapacitated and unable to participate in the count, I noticed that my rain gauge was very filled; it registered 3.7 in. In fact, from 12/13 to 12/18 we've registered 11.4 in. of rain; that's nearly a third of an ave. year! And today, it snowed!
