Working in the garden of our Hollister home Sunday, I heard some agitated clucking, and looked up to find a Chukar perched at the peak of a neighbor's roof. The bird remains, and spent last night in our front yard on Manzanita Dr. Certainly an escapee, but I can't get anyone to admit to ownership. No bands or other particularly distinguishing marks, other than its inescapable Chukar-ness. Our 12-year-old is captivated by our latest yardbird.
